West India

Enabling income for smallholder farmers in desert-like regions in western India is of great importance as it contributes to poverty reduction and the creation of sustainable livelihoods.

Micro irrigation systems
Micro-irrigation systems help smallholder farmers irrigate their fields and generate yields, even in dry and desert-like areas. These systems are cost-effective and help improve food security in the long term. Micro-irrigation systems use drip irrigation or spray irrigation to deliver water directly to the root zone of plants. This reduces water loss through evaporation and enables selective irrigation. These systems are particularly useful in dry and water-scarce regions as they minimize water waste and increase soil productivity.

Monitoring the soil
The use of soil nutrient and soil moisture sensors makes a crucial contribution to further optimizing irrigation in desert-like regions. They measure the moisture content in the soil in real time. This enables farmers to irrigate exactly when it is needed. This avoids wasting water and increases the efficiency of irrigation. Both over-irrigation and under-irrigation are avoided.

Healthy plants
Soil nutrient sensors measure the content of nutrients and minerals in the soil. Based on this information, farmers can use precisely targeted fertilizers to optimize the nutrient content in the soil and improve plant health. The sensor data is transmitted to the farmers via wireless communication systems. This enables them to receive real-time information about the condition of their fields and take appropriate action.

Environmental protection and climate change - There is hope
Micro-irrigation systems are a sustainable solution to help farmers in their plight. With this technology they can irrigate their fields even in dry seasons and thus secure their yields. In addition, the use of these systems helps to protect the humus layer in the soil and bind climate-damaging CO2 (carbon dioxide). The humus layer stores 4x as much of the climate-damaging CO2 as the trees in the world and 2x as much as the atmosphere. This upper layer is the largest terrestrial carbon store and is of great importance in stopping climate change.

Your donation makes a difference
Your donation will help procure micro-irrigation systems and soil monitoring systems. These will benefit small farmers and their families in this desert region.

Help small farmers in West India: Support the introduction of micro-irrigation systems!Help smallholder farmers in West India: Support the introduction of micro-irrigation systems!

Small farmers in West India are facing an existential challenge. In the desert-like region, crop cultivation is only possible with the support of micro-irrigation systems. Without income, these families face hunger and economic ruin. Thank you for your generous donation and your support for sustainable and social development.

We will regularly inform you about the current status of the project. If you have any questions or need information, we are happy to help you.

It takes a lot of helping hands.
